CARBIDE CUTTING TOOLS Built around your sourcing requirements

SPECIFY WITH CONFIDENCE

Technical Center

Practical checklists to help you prepare an insert inquiry and plan a meaningful machining trial.

How to prepare a complete insert inquiry

Include the full designation from the packaging or catalog, the holder reference, your workpiece material, quantity and shipping destination. A family name such as CNMG identifies a starting point, not a complete orderable specification.

  • Attach a clear photograph of the insert box or a drawing.
  • Include dimensions, grade, coating and chipbreaker if known.
  • State whether you need an exact match or an alternative for evaluation.
What to include in a machining brief

Share the material designation, hardness if known, operation, machine and holder, coolant, current cutting conditions and the issue you want to address. Clearly distinguish measured values from estimates.

How to plan a sample evaluation

Agree the exact sample specification first. Record the workpiece material, setup, cutting conditions and acceptance criteria. Compare results under consistent conditions and inspect wear, chip behavior, dimensional consistency and surface finish.

Stop a trial if the setup becomes unstable. Use the machine and tooling manufacturers’ operating guidance. Results from one setup do not guarantee results in another.

What is confirmed in a quotation?

Request written confirmation of the product designation, proposed specification, quantity, unit price, sample costs, lead time, packaging, payment terms, shipping scope and any documentation you need. Availability and costs are subject to that confirmation.

Why are detailed specifications not listed yet?

Verified supplier product data is still being prepared. Rather than publish guessed dimensions or performance claims, we confirm the requested configuration during the inquiry process.
